Liberty Lake at a glance
Liberty Lake is a city of about 12,000 people near the Idaho border, estimated at more than 13,000 in 2024. It's a Spokane suburb and a bedroom community for Coeur d'Alene, and one of the fastest-growing communities in Washington.
What that means for your electrical
Most homes here are fairly new, with modern panels and wiring. The requests tend to be upgrades rather than repairs: Level 2 EV chargers, outdoor and landscape lighting, hot tub circuits and finishing basements. See EV chargers.
Planning for later
New homes sometimes ship with panels that are already nearly full. If you're thinking about an EV, a heat pump or solar down the road, ask an electrician to check capacity before you add circuits one at a time.
A lake named for a mail carrier
The first homestead at the lake was set up in 1871 by Etienne La Liberte, a Quebec-born mail carrier known locally as Stephen Liberty. The lake became a resort for Spokane residents, with four lakeside resorts by 1959, and a sewer district formed in 1973 to clean up the water. The city's northern edge follows the Spokane River. Homes near the water or trees can lose power in windstorms, which makes a safe generator hookup worth considering; see generators.
